Not all Anime and Manga character was cool and strong, Some character were having a hard time because they had no good traits. Here is a good example of some good for nothing anime and manga character.
Tsukune Aono From Rosario + Vampire

The male protagonist, he is an average, ordinary human boy who is somehow accepted into a school of monsters, and despite the danger it entails for him, he remains on campus, with one of his motivations for staying being Moka Akashiya, the vampiric, female protagonist of the series.
Tsukune Aono is a young man who has failed all of his high school entrance exams. With no options left for him, his parents sends him to Yokai Academy. Upon arriving there however, he soon discovers that it is a special school for monsters and demons alike, and any human who discovers its existience will be killed. Fearing for his life, he later meets Moka Akashiya, a beautiful girl who turns out to be a vampire. Soon after he becomes friends with her, he soon learns from her that she hates humans. After revealing his secret to Moka to the latter's shock, he then decides to return to the human world, but relents at the last minute when he comes to rescue her from a bullying student, stating that he really likes her and wants to become her friend. Soon after the misunderstanding was cleared, he decides to stay at Yokai Academy regardless of the impending danger that awaits him.
Though considerate and polite, Tsukune is a gentle person even though there have been many instances where he has been put into dangerous, life-threatening situations (many of which are due to enemies whom he later befriends), he has never held a grudge against anyone. Tsukune's selflessness and courage comes to the foreground, whenever he or someone from his group of friends is faced with the possibility of injury, or even death. Though powerless, he has the tendency of throwing himself into danger to ensure the safety of his friends. As the series progresses, this habit becomes extremely dangerous—the enemies he encounters are so powerful that he frequently comes close to dying. Ironically, this leads to a situation where he calls upon "his own" supernatural abilities (originally from Inner Moka) as well as the concealment of his human identity from much of the student body.
However, as the series goes on, he gains popularity through his kind and quiet personality and his victories over strong enemies (although at first Inner Moka is the one who defeats them). Eventually he becomes stronger and more recognized, as seen when he is elected class president (against his violent protests).

Rin Tsuchimi From Shuffle!

Rin Tsuchimi is a seventeen year-old high school student and the male protagonist in the series. In the game, Rin is the role that the player assumes. As noted by Kaede, Rin's main virtue is his kindness. This is both his greatest strength, as the girls love him because of this, and his greatest weakness, as shown later in the series by his indecisiveness and goal to make everyone happy, which usually ends up hurting them instead. Rin tends to show minimal initiative when dealing with the girls around him (mostly because of the abuse he receives by fellow male classmates over his perceived relationship with his childhood friend Kaede). However, he starts to spend more and more time with both Lisianthus (Sia) and Nerine after they arrive and starts to develop feelings for them. With regards to Kaede, he thinks of her as a childhood friend only. When people comment that he and Kaede would make a good couple, Rin either waves it off or says that it is strange to think of it that way. This distance kept between them is caused in part by Kaede and Rin's dark past.
Kouta Oyamada From Kanokon
Kouta is the protagonist of the story. He moves from the country to the city in his first year of high school, and on his first day of school, he discovers that the second year girl Chizuru Minamoto is actually a fox deity. He used to live with his grandfather before moving. Kouta generally has a moderate personality and is indecisive. Apparently, his parents are dead and he lives with his grandparents. He loves Chizuru, but does like Nozomu too. When he was younger, he almost drowned in a river and now has a fear of swimming.

Tsuna is set to become the tenth generation boss of the Vongola family.
In school, Tsuna has been given the harsh nickname of "No Good Tsuna", as he is very clumsy, gets low marks in school and is somewhat of a pushover.
Although he is the tenth generation Vongola boss, Tsuna is unwilling to take part in anything that has to do with the Mafia. He always denies the fact that he is a future Mafia boss and tries to avoid anyone involved with the Mafia. In the Future arc he states that he would rather destroy the Vongola family than accept its bloody history. Tsuna is often surprised and horrified (for a comedic effect) at Reborn's and other mafiosos' actions. Later, even though he still wants nothing to do with the Mafia, he is grateful for the friends he has made since meeting Reborn. He cares a lot for his new 'family' and would put himself in the way of danger in order to protect them.
There have been many parallels that link Tsuna with the first boss and founder of the Vongola family, Giotto. Both of their personalities are likely to be very similar as it has been shown that they have similar goals and ways of standards.
Minato Sahashi From Sekirei

19 year old student who's just found out he's failed his exam for the second time to get into college. He's currently lives in Tokyo with no close friends and he's down in the dumps, until he bumps into Musubi. Musubi changes his life when she decides that he is her ashikabi (patner) and becomes a winged sekirei. Not only that but he finds out that Musubi is a sekirei who must battle other sekireis within Tokyo. Now Minato must keep this a secret while he tries to handle a new life with Musubi.
Not much is known about Minato's past, except that Matsu states that he originally is a native from Wakayama and was raised by a typical family. He had top scores from elementary to high school.
We also get to know from Yukari, that Minato would always help her out in the past when she would get lost in dark places like a forest, even though he as child feared those places himself. He would often carry her out of the Personality
Minato is highly intelligent, capable of devising ways on how to make better use of Sekirei abilities and is able to execute strategies in order to beat the opponent in Sekirei battles. Despite his capabilities, Minato is an insecure individual in the beginning who has a passive personality and often lacks the confidence to go against his own Sekirei when they decide on something.
Tomoki Sakurai From Sora no Otoshimono

An ordinary, highly perverted high-school boy who tries to live his life as peacefully as possible, with his personal motto "peace comes first". Since his childhood he's been having a dream of an angel, which he wakes up from crying.
At first he is repulsed by the appearance of Ikaros as he sees her wings, but he soon gets used to this, although he has no sexual attraction to Angeloids until he meets Delta.
When he is in a highly perverted state, he often thinks of "wise" words his grandpa had told him long ago, words of high pervertism.
He has his moments of wisdom, especially when in trouble regarding the Angeloids. He is often soft and caring towards Ikaros and Nymph (and Astraea in the manga).
Nobita Nobi From Doraemon
Nobita is one of the main characters of the Doraemon series. A fourth grader in Tokyo and only child, he is the quintessential flawed protagonist. He is lazy, bad in sports, bad in school, plain as a gray rock, and to top it off, all too unlucky in his (mis)adventures with Doraemon. However, his struggles to overcome his flaws are what drive the storyline.
Shingo Chiryuu From Girls Saurus
The 16-year-old male protagonist. Several months ago he received a note from a girl asking him to meet her in private. After arriving, a morbidly obese girl takes her clothes off and confesses her love to him. Shingo becomes frightened because she is so huge, and tries to run away, screaming for help. The girl becomes very angry and flattens him within an inch of his life, putting him in the hospital for a month and claims he remembers nothing about the attack (ashamed he got beaten up by a girl). As a result of the encounter Shingo has permanent scars all over his body, and develops gynophobia, viewing all women as "dinosaurs," like the girl who attacked him.
Shortly after returning to school, he decides to join the boxing club so he can protect himself from women. However, after joining he finds out, to his horror, that all the other members of the club are women. Even more terrifying, Shingo discovers that one of the members is the same girl that crushed him so savagely, but has since lost a lot of weight. Despite his gynophobia and his weakness toward women, it has been shown that his anger or fear (from something happening to the girls) can overpower his fear. However, because of his fear of women it has given him a sonar-like sense of his surrounding, telling him if a woman is near by, even if that woman is a ninja.
A running gag throughout the series is even though he is terrified of women many women fall in love with him, most of the time through a misunderstanding through his fear of women.
